Florida Continues Progress on NIL
The Florida state Senate continues its progress on moving forward with a bill to enable student athletes to monetize their Name Image and Likeness (NIL). According to an article from the AP, the Senate is in second of three committee stops before it can become law. There is bipartisan support around the bill, and it is likely to pass once it makes its way to a vote.
Florida is going to be the primary state to keep an eye on because of the immediate nature of their bill. If it passes, student athletes will be able to benefit from their NIL starting from July 1, this year. The NCAA is far from coming up with a consensus on a position for these developments, and Florida passing this law will certainly shake things up for this coming fall season.
